This was the headquarters of talented Kelley Mouse, poster artist.
It was also where Janis Joplin first met the Big Brother band
in 1966.
Chet Helms had suggested she meet them and so she came. The band
was not too impressed with her at first sight but when they
heard her
sing, they most definitely were impressed.
Her amazing vocal power and howling on one occasion
caused the neighbors to call the cops. They heard her and thought
she was being assaulted. :-)
Mouse is still creating his wonderful work but no longer lives in San Francisco.
